Observances
The Observances of the Mystic Order of Night are The Order's official Holy Days.
Comprised of both Lunar and Solar calendars, to acknowledge the dual nature of Reality, they are times of reflection, enlightenment, and transformative celebration. These sacred nights and days, marked by celestial symphonies and the cyclical dance of seasons, serve as gateways to enlightenment.
1. Winter Solstice/Midwinter
Significance: Observing the longest night and the return of the sun, Midwinter symbolizes the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth, as well as the darker aspects of the Universe. Adherents reflect on the past year's tribulations and darker moments and set intentions for the coming year.
2. Spring Equinox
Significance: A day to celebrate the balance between light and darkness. Adherents focus on planting seeds of change, self-illumination, and renewing their commitment to personal growth and enlightenment.
3. Summer Solstice
Significance: Embracing the fiery energies of summer this celebration marks the peak of light and life. Adherents engage in joyous festivities, communal experiences, and personal transformations.
4. Autumnal Equinox
Significance: A time to reflect on the personal Sacrifices made in the pursuit of Ascension in order to reap the harvest of their efforts. Adherents contemplate the transformative power sacrifice, appreciate the abundance of the Universe and renew their commitment to the journey.
5. All Hallows Eve & Day
Significance: A full night and day of celebration, revelry, and reflection upon the relationship with the Underworld. Adherents honor the shadow, the dead, and the god(s) joyfully with food, beverages, music, mischief, and merry making.
6. May Day/Opening Day
Significance: Commemorating the founding of the Mystic Order of Night, Opening Day celebrates the collective journey toward Enlightenment.
7. Lunar Observances/Esbats
Significance: Adherents gather during full moons for business acumen meetings, lunar rituals, connecting with the Night, and harnessing the power of the Moon for personal transformation.
8. Birthdays
Significance: Growth is inherently self-centered; therefore, Birthdays hold special significance. Adherents take the date of their birth to celebrate their own life journey.
9. Monday/Moon Day
Significance: Monday, shrouded in the mystique of moonlight, best exemplifies The Order and is the most significant of all our Observances. Adherents may choose to attend our regular meetings on Mondays to delve into the mysteries of the Illuminated Night, reflecting on the dual nature of Reality.
